Photo Series 2- History of Somerset
Some pictures of mine that show evidence of Somerset’s past are the church, rooms in the historical society, and some of the old houses that we saw on the tour. Some things that have been transformed over the year are the church and some of the houses in town. Some events that had taken place in Somerset and the rest of the United States is the conflict with Native Americans. I choose to photograph a bunch of old things that I found interesting like the old church building, the historical society, and old houses. Two of my photos that show a specific aspect of history of the town.
Photo Series 3- Past and Present
My photo conveys the history and present day of Somerset by showing what was there and what is there now, and also by showing what looks old and what looks more modern. The subject matter that illustrates my idea is the scenery at Mallord Point. I manipulated my photos by overlaying them over each other and making one have less of an opacity level. Something I learned about Somerset’s history is that Somerset used to be a part of Swansea.
Impressionism
The theme of my series was dreams and nightmares. The theme is conveyed by the dark vignettes around the photos. Also it conveys the theme with the seascapes because I feel as though it completes the look of the images.
My favorite photo in my impressionism project would be the third one, in which the texture in the background is makes it looks like there are clouds in the sky. To take this photo I just used my phone, I was driving around and had to turn around and pulled into this driveway and saw this scenery. I feel as though the part that made it very successful was the fact that the texture made it look like there is clouds there.
